Praxial Language Development: social hope, liberation and solidarity

Pragmatically critiquing, what is the purpose of language learning/teaching? Communication can be performed in native language, why learn another language, in the hope of getting a better job?  Wow, such sacrifices, considering learning another language is anything but enjoyable unless it is performed in context. So, language learning should be about social hope, liberation, and solidarity.
