Paradigm shifts in 2LD

ASEAN countries such as Thailand, due to their socio-cultural context are limited in their ability to develop English as a second language. Thailand has depended on classroom instruction to prepare for its entrance in ASEAN, but this has been problematic, and generally unsuccessful. Traditional second language acquisition has focused its attention on language and the individual but this approach is being broadened due to paradigm shifts in cognitive science, philosophy and Human Resource Development.
